We got to go to the Temple yesterday. That's a date I recommend wholeheartedly. Our old Stake President Dave Jeppson and his wife June are in the new Temple Presidency. We saw June as we came in and she gave us names from her family line she'd been working on. She said some sweet things about them. I felt her excitement to see their work finished.
“Our leader is the Lord Jesus Christ and our temple service should be a reflection of His life and mission,” President Monson, Vancouver Temple dedication 2 May 2010.
When I first made it to the waiting room, there was some confusion because a session was just going up. They advised me to hurry on to that session and see if my husband was there already. I didn't believe he'd go without me but it was a little adventure so I went. The Temple Worker was teasing me about "finding another husband for me if I'd lost mine" so when I looked in to see if Papa was there, I informed him, "no, none of them guys has enough hair to be mine." **snicker** They took me back down and there was Papa waiting. They actually apologized that we hadn't made the session, but we assured them that we loved being in the Temple and were in no hurry. They informed us that people get quite upset when they don't make the sessions they planned to. Papa laughed.
“We seek to pattern our lives after the life of Thy Son, our Savior and Redeemer, who ‘went about doing good’ and who set for us the perfect example. We desire righteousness for ourselves and for our children and our children’s children.” President Monson, Vancouver Temple dedication 2 May 2010.
When we go, we like to be prepared to learn and gain deeper understanding. We like to sit in the Celestial room after and share our impressions and insights. Yesterday was very special in that way. I made it a point, this time, to write down what we learned when we got home so that we show Him how much we value His teachings.
“As a boy, Jesus was found teaching in the temple, and He teaches there still.” President Monson, Vancouver Temple dedication 2 May 2010.
Today is another beautiful day to spend together. I hope I can keep the Spirit of the Temple with me and not chaise it away with silly things.
In Laie President Monson spoke of visitors touring the Temple prior to the dedication saying, “Thousands of visitors have reverently walked within these sacred walls and have felt the spirit of the temple. May that spirit linger long with them.”
May the Spirit be with you today. I love you, my family!
