Going back in there, like a Gladiator facing the same lion again after a little mauling. I can do this! Work is doable. I'm gonna have a little more to do on a regular basis, but if I commit to more time at work, I can keep on top of it. That's what I have to do.
It really feels like a Monday morning today, can you tell? *snicker*.
I love my life, really, I'm just a little overwhelmed by a couple of things. I'll get over it.
This is the last week of Cassidy's 60 day challenge but I'm going to keep going. I think I've made a few new good habits from this. Though I've really fallen down on the guitar and piano. I need to feel more hope there in order to continue. Must work on that.

Made it!
We didn't keep Mom home today after all and managed to make it almost all the way through the three hours. Mom was glad to get home to her music and her bed though.
Sunday and Snow again!
Isn't it interesting that we keep getting snow just on Sunday! I love it. The sidewalks are clear, not cold enough for it to stick to the cement. The house across the street is adorable in snow with its turrets and bricabrac. I love it.
We'll be keeping Mom home today, I think. She's sleeping in this morning and I don't think she needs to go out in this weather.
I believe I still have another month of subbing for the 9 yr old primary class. I do enjoy the kids. They really are very sweet!
I watched the lecture Elder D Oaks gave to Chapman University of Law about religions needing to come together to fight the encroachments on religious freedom. It's really happening all over the world and most surprisingly, right here! I recommend looking it up if you have a chance. If you can't find it on the web, call me. It's Raining
Papa was going to go over and trim branches for the Trevor and Shayna today. I don't know if he can do that now in this rain. We'll see how the day shapes up.
My plan: laundry, Primary lesson, sewing, minutes for work, then maybe a show or two - I'm way behind on my show watching.*** I should put in the piano and guitar and a walk weather it's raining or not. I've been doing lousy on the piano and guitar practicing these last ... three weeks! Sheesh! I've also got to change my Activity Days to the 2nd and 4th week now that I'm going to do Planning Commission - which is on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, and Activity Days has been on the 1st and 3rd. So looks like that would solve the problem. So, that's my list for today. What are your plans? I'd love to visit with you today, if you want to call - looks like I'll be sitting on the sofa for most of that stuff, so you could say I'll be sitting around.*** kheehee.

What Day Off?
Thanks to a wonderful husband who makes my life doable, and a sweet Daughter (Katrina) who called and visited with me on my long drives today, it actually has shaped into a pretty ok day!
I had lots of work for the City and Papa's helping me learn new things for the Toquerville.org site (pdfing and all that). So I'm still growing and someday maybe I can feel like I can actually do everything that everyone thinks I should be able to do. Right? yah riiiaght.

Thursday and I'm all ready to begin again, I think.
I have the best husband in the world! He is engaging, intelligent, fun, funny, thoughtful, giving, encouraging, patient, hard working, and he loves me, which I have to say, may be his best trait.***
33 years ago we fell in love in the month of February. I believe the angels made it impossible to feel otherwise. We talked about everything and never wanted to leave each other's side. I still can't get enough time just to be with him and cuddle and listen to him read or just listen to him talk.

The next thing
You won't believe it, but I still haven't finished the minutes from the Feb 10th meeting! It's ridiculous, but I can't write when there are interruptions every 10 minutes, plus the next thing to get done yesterday is a letter of support for a project the town wants to encourage. I've got to collect maps and property information on the land to send with the letter. Hopefully the man donating the land will help me out with that.
We are loving our C.S. Lewis trilogy. This last book had a slow start but it's really getting interesting now. It has a great deal of that droll English humor in it.
I got a call from Aubrey yesterday! Yay! She got her Birth Certificate back! Now she just has to wait for the DMV to send her the Utah driver's license. That was a fun conversation, even though we ran out of things to talk about.***
Shayna came to visit yesterday afternoon. I always love to see her! Those boys are growing more every day!

President's Day!
We're watching Fantasia - lots of pretty music and fun imagination! The kids stayed up a little too late last night and they're having a little emotional-ness this morning. I wish I could help, but Staci's handling it. Oh! Kenz came over to sit with me! Yay!! Taft and Alissa are having a territorial argument over the love seat. They stopped to watch the T-Rex fight. kheehee. I'm narrating the movie a little. We're having fun! I think the plan is snow today! I'll probably stay home with Mom for that though. But I'm sure this gang will have fun throwing snowballs!

Sunday and Snowing!
We're getting snow but it's not sticking to the ground! I think there will be some on Toquer Hill though. We could just walk up the mountain a little ways to see it! Or maybe just drive up to Kolob Canyon and just off the freeway there... You wouldn't even have to drive up into the canyon. I don't know if the roads will be save - black ice and scary stuff like that.....
We had a great time at the Washington Community Center. That was the first time I'd been and it's quite the facility! I can't imagine anything like that being built in Hurricane or Toquer. that place is really something! Anyways, we had a great time!

Saturday and Rain!
It's been raining all day! We're watching "Tarzan", so that's good, and this afternoon we may be going swimming at Washington Community Center. I got to do Alissa's hair this morning.***. Mom slept really well last night and Marilyn let her sleep, which I love. I got her up at 9am and she ate a good amount for breakfast. Having lots of kids in the house is a little hard on her emotionally, but she's reasoning a little and doing quite well with it. Taft and the cat were meowing and Mom joined in. :^)

What a Wonderful Day!!
Got up late. Got to go on a FOUR MILE slow jog with Staci!! Got to eat Grapefruit and clementines and a green smoothie for breakfast and put a couple of puzzle pieces into Ryan's puzzle. It was a fun morning!
I forgot I didn't finish my post this morning! We had a nice morning with everyone! Shayna came over too and we had a good lunch! I think the kids really have fun together! Kenz burned his foot but I think he's feeling better. Shayna had some Aloe Vera and Staci's been putting it on all day.
Anyways, I think we're going to a pizza place tonight!

Stormy Weather?
The clouds have rolled in. It looks like a stormy day, though no wind yet. Papa says its even warm at 40o F. The good news though is that it should be done raining by 3:00am tomorrow instead of just being rainy all day tomorrow. I'm excited that tomorrow morning I'll wake up to a house full of wonderful family! I hope the rain doesn't make it hard to drive for the Ryan Garner family!
I woke up with a headache but its better after an ibuprofen and a hot bath. I don't know when I'm going to get my exercise cuz I'll be the only one in the office again today and then after is Activity days and then tonight is Way Off Broads practice. It won't be in the morning like it's best to do.
Mom slept soundly all the way through the night and then had a very good drink of water first thing this morning. I just gave her a 1/2 of an milkshake (the good kind) and she drank it right down. I think this will be a good day for her.
I'm planning on working on those minutes again! I hope I can really do that. I've had so much trouble. I need to focus and the constant interruptions make it almost impossible!

Task at hand!
I didn't even get started on the minutes yesterday! Amazing! But I will do it today for sure! Also I forgot to pick up Aubrey's package at the post office and do that little errand for her! Today! Today! Work with a will!
The exercise on BYUTV today was restorative yoga so lots of stretching and breathing! My knees ached through the night. I don't know if the stretching was good or bad for them, but we shall see.
We started having Marilyn come in at 12am to watch Mom sleep. We're trying to tell if she's sleeping enough in the night. Marilyn said she slept from 12:30 to 6:00am. I put her down by 9pm and stood at the door for awhile. She was quiet, and I believe she went to sleep right away. If so, that was a very good night's sleep - more than I got.
Oh! Papa bought me a very fancy scale that tells my body fat and water %. It's very cool. I love it! (But it still said I weigh 150. ugh) Oh well, I'm sure I'm getting healthier. Why should I lose hope?

Feels like a Monday morning!
This was not a restful weekend. But today is Monday and the start of a new work week. I'm excited to see Ryan and Staci soon!
I've got minutes to type today and it's good to have just one thing to plan and focus on. Whatever happens at work, whatever the distractions, at least I'm just PLANNING to do the minutes, and that feels comforting, for some reason.
The sweet little 9-yr old class went well yesterday! I love those kids. They ask such good questions. we had the lesson on Jesus' 40-day Fast and they were fascinated. I'm so impressed when even the rowdy one is listening and can answer and ask questions. He has the sweetest Mommy and I think he'll calm down just fine.
Sid and Sandy leave this morning to drive all the way back. I know they'll have a good visit as they drive. Everything went fine with their visit. Mom is deteriorating, as I told them. It's quite a different thing to see her though.

Sunday, Day of rest?

I stayed up too late last night and I'm feeling unrested and fussy today. I need to just calm down and I need to pray a little more. I'll be fasting today for Ben and Emily who are trying to adopt a baby girl. It's looking very good! Please say a prayer for them today.

Today I have GOT to clean the house, work on my Primary lesson and HOPE to pull those weeds in the front I meant to do yesterday!
Sidney and Sandra are coming and the house is a wreck! That's the first priority. Hey! If I do a good job, maybe I won't have to do it again for another month. lol!

Yay for Friday!
There's the bills I have to pay that were approved last night, and the minutes to do. Do I WANT to do them on my weekend off? No, I really don't! Sid's coming tomorrow and I want to help Layne in the yard so it's as pretty, or cleaned-up as possible by the end of today. I think we're going to have a bonfire every night in our fire pit while our Flake-Garners are here! That could be fun!
So, 1/2 jogging, 1/2 work on bills, quick trip into town to get a part for Papa's car and to deliver papers to the City Attorney from last night. The rest of the day light is for yard work and tonight the Temple! Love it!

CC tonight!
The day has just begun, but I'm already focusing on the end - City Council Meeting tonight. That's not the right approach, is it?
I did a little yoga with BYUTV this morning and I'm now having my green smoothie that Papa made me. Yummm.
Papa finished the tree trimming on the trees close to the house. There's just two more in the back. Mulberries that are getting too tall to enjoy the majority of their fruit. So he knows what he's doing today! I'm still making a phone list - I've got it together, now I just have to type it into the computer.
So I hope your day goes beautifully and you keep working toward all your worthy goals!! I love you!!

Wednesday, 2-9-11
The first two days of the week are well and done with all the work completed. I don't think I'm missing anything important. Today I'll continue to make a list of all the people on Westfield Road and their phone numbers for the Mayor and the Engineer. As new construction on the road goes forward, that list will be useful in notifying people of meetings and road conditions.
The wind is NOT blowing (yet) today! I'll have my little walk later in the day when it's warmer, not too much later though, 'cuz Papa says its best to exercise in the morning to get the system going.
We're so exited that Ryan and Staci and the kids are coming next week! Papa's trying to get lots of yard work done! We really have a mess out there now because we clipped the trees back and left the branches where they fell! ugh. But the trees look good and ready for spring!

Wow!
I just read that Staci lost 25 lbs last month! that is so awesome! My body still doesn't believe me. It's so weird. but I know I'm more firmed up and that's a great beginning. (Don't tell me muscle weighs more than fat, I might throw something***)
Today is also Sammy's Birthday!! I'm so happy that I have a little Grandson named Samuel! I know how very smart and special he is and I hope I can see him sometime in May I think!!
I love all of my very wonderful Grandchildren!! They are the BEST Grandchildren in the WORLD!!
Layne trimmed almost all of the trees now in the yard! I got to do a couple of the bushes with his help. New tools are so fun!

New week and blue skies
I always think of the blue skies, because as I'm sitting here trying to think of what to talk to you about, there is that blue sky... Then I check for wind, nope, no wind this morning, so it will be a pleasant walk to work.
It was good to visit with Katrina and Aubrey and Shayna yesterday! Plus I had a cute email from Staci and Papa got to talk to Tim. All counties heard from, as the saying goes. Everybody sounds good. I had to laugh at Katrina, Shayna and Aubrey. They all tried to call each other and me at the same time so I guess nobody got an especially good visit. Except Shayna and me 'cuz that was nice just sitting around after dinner and looking at cool articles on the web while Trevor and Papa talked on the phone. Although Shayna said what she really wanted to do is to win, er, play a game like last week. LOL. Of course, there's no guarantee who would win in a rematch. Ha.
Ah, Papa's singing a sweet love song. I gotta go!

It was good to visit with Katrina and Aubrey and Shayna yesterday! Plus I had a cute email from Staci and Papa got to talk to Tim. All counties heard from, as the saying goes. Everybody sounds good. I had to laugh at Katrina, Shayna and Aubrey. They all tried to call each other and me at the same time so I guess nobody got an especially good visit. Except Shayna and me 'cuz that was nice just sitting around after dinner and looking at cool articles on the web while Trevor and Papa talked on the phone. Although Shayna said what she really wanted to do is to win, er, play a game like last week. LOL. Of course, there's no guarantee who would win in a rematch. Ha.
Ah, Papa's singing a sweet love song. I gotta go!

Fast Sunday
I'm starting the day hungry already! Sheesh! I think that means it will dissipate earlier and I'll be feeling fine by church time.*** i hope so. Last week the Bishop asked us to fast this week for the inactive and the struggling in our Ward area. That's was I'll focus on.
Mom is not eating well. Some days are better than others. Today should be a good day for her. She loves all the people she gets to see. The Ward members are wonderful! They hug her and treat her very special.
Papa got some new yard toys; there's a 16" chain saw and a 8" chain saw on a looonnng pole so he can do the branches up high. He did two trees yesterday and I think he was definitely having a little fun, though he uses other words.
Both of us had good exercise, Papa did about 7.5 miles in 1 hour, 9 minutes. I did 4.6 in 1:19. But hey, it was a little better than that, 'cuz the last .75 I got a big drink at the creek and walked slowly back home.

Saturday and Open!
I still need to post the City Council agendas on 4 more kiosks around town, and we want to pick up Dad's Vit C at the store. Other than that, it's an open day to enjoy!

I started out perfectly with a little scripture time by myself. I was studying my Sunday lesson for the 9 year-old class. The scriptures were all about Christ's baptism and our covenants and hope in the Savior. I'm so happy that I have the Gospel in my life! How could I live in a world without my Redeemer? What would be the point?
I love you each with all of my heart and pray for your happiness, which ultimately comes only through a deep desire to please God by your actions and thoughts.

Too Windy for Yard Work?
So I'm just lounging here on the couch - did I just say couch? ... sofa next to my Sweetie, looking through emails, articles, videos of interest. It's nine o' clock already! I love days off! they are so wonderful!! My main goal today is Layne and Mom! - to stay as close as I can to them all day without being too stalkerish.
I'd love to work in the yard! I've been planning to all week, but it's only 30 degrees out with a windchill of, i don't know 10? It's cold!! And the wind cuts right through you! I'm feeling the soul wimping out on the idea so far. It's nice and warm sitting here on the, er, sofa. ... except... Layne just got up...

It's still cold but the wind died down. The sun is beginning to peak over Toquer Hill and the sky is turning light blue. Today I'm writing up the notes (not minutes) of yesterday's Office-staff Meeting, getting the documents together for the Council's notebooks and hopefully delivering them. It's Pam's birthday tomorrow so I got her a card. I didn't know what to get her. She's sick so much! I ended up buying her cranberry juice. LOL! Layne liked it, I hope she does.
I'm happy today and I hope you are too! Mom is doing good today. She was crossing her legs, which I haven't seen her do in a long time! I'm so amazed at the small improvements every day. It's been a long fast slide downhill for so long with us trying to do what we're told. The Neurologist gave us permission to cut her meds (except the Levoxyl for her thyroid, of course) because she felt at this point it couldn't hurt. Mom had a couple of days there where we couldn't even get her to eat. So we have been taking her off of the Exelon and the Prosac and the sleeping pill. Low and behold! She's more awake, she stopped listing to one side or the other! She's speaking in the occasional sentence again, and trying to speak a lot more! She's interested in food, though, she still holds it in her mouth and has a hard time remembering to swallow. If she's close to the end I couldn't think of a happier ending then to have her personality back! She likes to sit by me when I practice the piano and tries to help me! It makes me cry, she's so sweet and encouraging!

Happy Anniversaries!!!
Hey! A big shout out to Tim and Sonia!! Happy Anniversary!!! Nine years ago today you tied the knot in the Mesa Temple! You are such a great couple and I'm proud that you're mine! Congratulations!!
And 33 years ago today, Layne and I met for the very first time! (and he hugged me and twirled me around! But that's another story).
Happy Ground Hog's day to everyone! It's a clear beautiful day out, all be it cold, and I'm gonna have fun with the Activity Days girls today!! (inside***)

February 1st 2011
This is the first day I exercised this month! Kheehee. I made it all the way through the first month with my new habits, some better than others, and now is a good time to take stock.
This is totally worth it! One of the hardest things is writing in this blog every day, as you can probably tell as a struggle to find things to say. But I think it's a good thing. I get to talk to my kids as if they were here and it helps with the nagging feeling that (most of you) are not near me or close or whatever. Praying always helps that feeling, it's difficult to describe, its not just missing someone exactly. It's that plus the mother thing you get when you've been focusing on something really hard and all of the sudden you think "where's so-and-so?" and you look around and they're right there playing, so you relax. LOL. That's kind of funny. I know you're all doing so wonderfully! I'm so proud of each of you and when I get those feelings I've always just said a little prayer for whoever comes to mind. Now that I'm writing to you every day, it takes the edge off of that a little. So what do I want to say to you today?
I love you! You are the best people! You are inspiring and fun and hard-working and spiritual and If I had anything that I just wanted you to know it would be that I love you with all of my heart and Papa loves you! And as wonderful as that is, God loves you even more than that and our Heavenly Parents want you back too! I know they are watching you and happy that you're choosing to lead lives of love and service and joy!
And when you read to Scriptures, do me a favor, and mark the joyful ones and remember that Father wants you to be happy! One of my FAVoriTes is Isaiah 12:2-6. He is my Strength and my Song!
