I've made it through the first week of new goals. I've fallen short on piano and guitar. I'm noticing I've always got music or TV going in the house and I am loath to compete with the noise. It's usually me that turn them on though. I feel it's something for Mom to focus on, but I probably like the music/noise as much as she does. I've got to think through this one, or I'm not going to succeed on that practice time.
I'm actually thrilled I've done so well this week on all of it. The results so far - really achy knees and nausea + headaches every morning. No weight loss, but then that wasn't my goal, right? Right! Papa says the nausea and headaches will go away, it's just an adjustment to not eating in the evening, and he's very glad I'm resting today because he thought I might have done too much on my knees.
He's always right, I do try to listen to him. I only did the yoga twice this week because it seemed particularly hard on the knees, and yesterday I had to get out and look at the creek after he told me how beautiful and clear it was flowing. I went down to the Oldchurch Rd bridge and climbed down to the creek. It was so low now that I could walk down the side of it to the park. I truly enjoyed it, but on the way back up from the park, I noticed I had to really think about it to keep from limping on my left knee. Oh well, rest today.
Everyone have a wonderful Sabbath!! I love you!!

Temples and Prophets
We got to go to the Temple yesterday. That's a date I recommend wholeheartedly. Our old Stake President Dave Jeppson and his wife June are in the new Temple Presidency. We saw June as we came in and she gave us names from her family line she'd been working on. She said some sweet things about them. I felt her excitement to see their work finished.
“Our leader is the Lord Jesus Christ and our temple service should be a reflection of His life and mission,” President Monson, Vancouver Temple dedication 2 May 2010.
When I first made it to the waiting room, there was some confusion because a session was just going up. They advised me to hurry on to that session and see if my husband was there already. I didn't believe he'd go without me but it was a little adventure so I went. The Temple Worker was teasing me about "finding another husband for me if I'd lost mine" so when I looked in to see if Papa was there, I informed him, "no, none of them guys has enough hair to be mine." **snicker** They took me back down and there was Papa waiting. They actually apologized that we hadn't made the session, but we assured them that we loved being in the Temple and were in no hurry. They informed us that people get quite upset when they don't make the sessions they planned to. Papa laughed.
“We seek to pattern our lives after the life of Thy Son, our Savior and Redeemer, who ‘went about doing good’ and who set for us the perfect example. We desire righteousness for ourselves and for our children and our children’s children.” President Monson, Vancouver Temple dedication 2 May 2010.
When we go, we like to be prepared to learn and gain deeper understanding. We like to sit in the Celestial room after and share our impressions and insights. Yesterday was very special in that way. I made it a point, this time, to write down what we learned when we got home so that we show Him how much we value His teachings.
“As a boy, Jesus was found teaching in the temple, and He teaches there still.” President Monson, Vancouver Temple dedication 2 May 2010.
Today is another beautiful day to spend together. I hope I can keep the Spirit of the Temple with me and not chaise it away with silly things.
In Laie President Monson spoke of visitors touring the Temple prior to the dedication saying, “Thousands of visitors have reverently walked within these sacred walls and have felt the spirit of the temple. May that spirit linger long with them.”
May the Spirit be with you today. I love you, my family!

Contemplation
I just found a cool article about a water colorist, James Tissot written by Dan Peterson. I always love his FAIR articles so I was immediately interested. Tissot went to the Holy Land to do his series on Christ. They are quite beautiful! Tissot's work is on display at BYU this weekend. Since I couldn't go, I was able to view them on line with a little google searching. Today: no work, and we're going to the Temple. A little time contemplating my Savior through Tissot's eyes was a nice beginning to the day.

Long Day
Nothing earth-shattering, no emergencies, just busy work editing the Policies &Procedure book all day, write up one resolution, then rush home to Activity Days at 4:30pm, then back to the office for our first City Office Staff Meeting at 6:00pm.
Activity Days - girls are so cute! Kennedy tried to be shy...really? That is the silliest thing ever. I've known that girl... she sings solos in Sacrament meeting for Heaven's sake! Hugs everybody she comes close to. No, not shy. She finally came out of it, I made her smile and then I reminded her of how bravely, and beautifully she sang at my Uncle Carlyle's Funeral. Suddenly words cascaded from her mouth with abandon. What a cutie.
Our first COS meeting was Emergency evaluation of the recent flood. We planned out who and what a little better. Things went well, but we were a little unorganized. Cell phones went out, too many people sent to some areas, miscommunications, etc.
There was a fascinating article on thunderbolts.info.com under the picture of the day yesterday. It implied Cosmology was ready to look at the sun with new eyes. That would be an exciting breakthrough. The Universe is electric! I love it. It fits so well with the Pearl of Great Price and if it is so, then trying to explain creation without a creator becomes the ridiculous exercise it's always been. We'll see.
I love my family and pray for them every hour of the day!

Night knots?
My left knee gave me some trouble last night. It's like a knot in the back, but like a string is in the wrong place at the same time. A pop of some kind always has to happen before the pain subsides, which did finally happen. Oh well, life is interesting. It feels much better now. Layne is out running with some teenage boys today, trying to motivate/train, I think, or just enjoying himself, whichever. He has his new GPS with him. ***smiles***.
I've got Activity Days today at 4:30 and an Office Staff Meeting at 6:00pm. I'll try to do an easy walk at lunch-time. That will get my exercise and my sunshine at the same time. Hope life is good for all my family! That's what I pray for!!

1-4-11 Still Here
I'm sore from the Yoga yesterday. I know I couldn't have hurt my knees though, no impact. So even though they hurt, I know it's a good kind of stretchy-muscley thing. Today I kept it easy with core stuff and trampoline work.
The piano is progressing. Layne actually sang along to the "The Morning Breaks" veerrrry slllooooowwwlly. The guitar is still hurting my fingers too much.
I have been getting up earlier but I need to make it even more so. I need more time in the day if I'm going to get to my sketching that I want to do. Katrina sent me the cutest children story and asked me to illustrate it; a very great honor, and I have ideas but I need to get going on that too!
Work went well and I accomplished what I needed to also. Today will be another day of working on the Policy and Procedures book, I hope, I'd like to get that done.
So far so good on all the new "habits". I hope all of you are doing well too!

More stuff
I added two more things to my list yesterday, Piano and guitar. Did I mention them already? I'm afraid of them. If I practice every day, could I really get to the point where my mind doesn't blank out and stop occasionally? That is so disgusting, I won't even say embarrassing, because it's more personal than that. I hate my brain sometimes. We'll see.
Anyways, its the first work-day of the new year and I'm dressed and ready, except for that snow and ice thing going on out there. But I've got my 5-finger Vibrams on with the good traction. I love that someone might come by after me and see the "bare" footprints in the snow - that make me smile to think of, kheehee.
Layne already shoveled the walk today. He said he was doing it for exercise, yah, right. I love you too SweetHeart!!
